(HBO) - Luong Van Bien, a civil servant in charge of cultural affairs in the commune said that to spread sport and physical exercise movement in the public, the commune has ordered the integration of sports and physical activities into the campaigns calling on all people to lead a civilised lifestyle and do physical exercise following the example of late President Ho Chi Minh.

Accordingly, hamlets zoned off areas for cultural and sporting events, meeting demand for sport practice and entertainment of local people.

Implementing Resolution No.830 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Pieng Ve commune was merged into Bao La commune. After the merger, the commune is home to 10 hamlets. At present, the commune has finished plans to build communal houses and sport fields. All hamlets have communal houses and seven have fields for regular sport activities.

In the afternoon, local residents and civil servants often gather at communal fields, grounds or offices’ yards to play sports, thereby improving their health. Everyone chooses suitable sports, with volleyball, soft volleyball, football and badminton being the most popular.

All hamlets have set up and maintained activities of volleyball, soft volleyball, and football teams, while the commune has one volleyball club. The rate of people regularly playing sports and doing exercise and families joining sporting activities reaches more than 26 percent and 28 percent, respectively.

With diverse activities, sport and physical exercise movement has formed part of local people’s lives in residential areas, offices, schools and households. Playing sports and doing exercise have become a daily habit, creating a bond in the community and enhancing solidarity among people./.
