(HBO) - There is a beautiful natural scenery and fresh climate, and a diversity in culture in Mai Chau district. In addition, the district also has many handicraft products, typical agricultural products such as brocade weaving, garlic, taro, watermelon ... These are the potentials for the district to implement OCOP Program associated with tourism.

The members of Lac Mai Textile Brocade Weaving Cooperative and Tourism Service of Lac Village, Chieng Chau Commune are meticulously creating brocade products to serve the needs of the people and tourists.

In 2019, Mai Chau is the only district of the province having tourism products and services that meet OCOP standards. There are three OCOP-starred products in the whole province. Two 4-star products are hand-woven brocade products of Brocade Weaving Cooperative and tourism service in Lac village, Chieng Chau commune and homestay tourism of Lac village, the Agro-forestry Service Cooperative and Tourist Service of Lac Village, Chieng Chau Commune. The product of Loi Sieu wine of the business household, Ms. Vi Thi Ton in Chieng Ha hamlet, Mai Ha commune has reached 3-star standard.

The Party Committee and authorities of Mai Chau district have identified the OCOP Program as an important solution to boost the production development, to build new rural areas and to create motivation for socio-economic development. To effectively implement the program, the district has focused on propaganda so that the people can understand the purpose and meaning of OCOP Program. Thereby, it has created motivation for producers to boldly invest and develop the advantageous products of each commune. The district has advocated choosing the traditional products to participate in OCOP Program. In 2020, the district has registered 3 traditional and potential products to participate in OCOP Program at the provincial level. They are the traditional brocade weaving in Chieng Chau commune, the business owner Mr. Mac Van Phang in Chieng Chau hamlet, Chieng Chau commune, the taro in Son Thuy commune and the purple garlic in Thanh Son commune.

The products participating in OCOP Program are potential products, having brought practical economic benefits to the locality. Reaching OCOP standard is an opportunity for the products to develop the brands, expanding the production scale, increasing the product value associated with tourism development and building new rural areas in the area. Currently, Mai Chau is a famous tourist destination, which is also a great opportunity for OCOP products to develop the brand and become gifts for domestic and foreign tourists. Over the past time, the district has always paid attention to preserving and developing the brands of the traditional products such as brocade weaving and Lau Sieu wine. Every year, the wine production establishment of Mrs. Vi Thi Ton (Mai Ha commune), Brocade Weaving Cooperative and tourism service of Lac Mai Chau village (Chieng Chau commune) welcome a lot of tourists visiting and buying products. In particular, tourists love the experience of participating in wine making and brocade weaving by themselves.

In the coming time, Mai Chau will step up the construction of many community tourism routes connecting to the areas of agricultural production. The training of human resources, linking tours with experience in agriculture and handicrafts have been strengthened. Therefore, the products of the district meeting the standard of OCOP will help improve the product range, promoting the image of the local tourism, contributing to increasing incomes for the local people, towards the tourism development and sustainable rural development.
