Head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training Vuong Bich Thang hoped that the fund will help Vietnam’s shooting gain more achievements in the coming time, particularly at the ASIAD 2018.

The amount will be used to fund training activities, host tournaments, and help outstanding athletes, Thang said.

His agency and the federation have continuously mobilised resources to support marksmen to fulfill their set targets, Thang added.

Shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh won an Olympic gold medal in 2016. Vinh and his team will be training in the RoK from April 7th-20th and compete at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup from April 20th-30th, before playing at the ASIAD 2018.

In 2018, the Vietnam Shooting Federation will organise numerous national shooting competitions to horn athletes’ skills and find talents for the national team.

More than 200 Vietnamese athletes will compete in 20 of the 40 sports at the ASIAD 2018. They aim to bring home from three to five gold medals in key sports, such as athletics, swimming, weightlifting, shooting and gymnastics.

In the ASIAD Games in Incheon, the Republic of Korea in 2014, Vietnam won one gold, 10 silver and 25 bronze medals to rank 21. The country’s best result so far has been four golds at the Busan Games in 2002./.
