French teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe will be donating his entire World Cup earnings to a charity that organises sporting events for children with disabilities, according to reports from France. The 19-year-old reportedly earned about US$22,300 per game in the tournament and an additional US$350,000 for helping his country lift the World Cup trophy on Sunday (July 15).

* The torch for the 18th Asian Games was welcomed to the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta on Tuesday (July 17), with a military parade, traditional dancing and a flypast by the airforce. Jakarta and Palembang in Sumatra are set to host about 11,000 athletes and 5,000 officials from 45 Asian countries for the Aug 18 to Sep 2 Games, the world's biggest multi-sport event behind the Olympics.

* Australia's all-time leading goal-scorer Tim Cahill retired from international football Tuesday (July 17), ending an illustrious career that has taken him to four World Cups. The 38-year-old, who scored 50 international goals in 107 appearances, last played for the Socceroos when he came off the bench for their final group game against Peru at the World Cup in Russia.

* Hernan Dario Gomez said on Tuesday (July 17) that he was quitting as coach of Panama after leading the nation to their first World Cup finals. Gomez took charge of Panama in 2014 and led them to the third qualifying place in the final regional group. In Russia, Panama struggled, losing to Belgium, England and Tunisia, conceding 11 goals while scoring just two.

* Iceland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson stepped down on Tuesday (July 17), a few weeks after leading the tiny nation at its first World Cup. Hallgrimsson became an assistant coach in 2011 under Swede Lars Lagerback. He took charge after Iceland reached the quarter-finals at the 2016 Euros in France and guided Iceland to first place in a World Cup qualifying group that also included eventual finalists Croatia.

* Annemiek van Vleuten followed up on her Giro Rosa victory when she prevailed in the one-day La Course by Le Tour race for the second year in a row on Tuesday, crossing the line first in Le Grand Bornand hours before the men’s Tour de France stage 10 finish. The Dutchwoman chased down Olympic champion and compatriot Anna van der Breggen after being dropped in the last climb up the Col de la Colombiere.

* Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe turned on the style to secure his maiden Tour de France stage win on Tuesday (July 17) as Belgium's Greg Van Avermaet stubbornly held on to the yellow jersey.
