Eden Hazard’s stunning individual performance earned Chelsea a 2-0 win over West Ham United which hoisted them into third spot in the Premier League on Monday.

Hazard danced through West Ham’s packed defence in the 24th minute to put Maurizio Sarri’s side in front before sealing the points in the 90th minute with a clinical finish. A third successive victory means Chelsea have 66 points from 33 games, while Tottenham and Arsenal have 64 and 63 respectively having played a game less.

* Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has shaken off a muscle injury and could return to action in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur, manager Pep Guardiola said on Monday. The Argentine has returned to full training after missing the last two matches following an injury in last month's 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham.

* Liverpool are confident Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum can shake off minor knocks in time to face Porto in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Anfield, manager Juergen Klopp said on Monday. The Dutch international duo were among a number of players with problems following Friday's 3-1 Premier League victory at Southampton that left the title-chasing Merseyside club top of the standings with five matches remaining.

* Brazilian soccer legend Pele was discharged from a French hospital on Monday after recovering from a urinary infection, media in France reported. Pele, 78, was admitted to the hospital in Paris last Wednesday with a strong fever, after attending an event in the city with France's World Cup-winning player Kylian Mbappe.

* Barcelona have named French winger Ousmane Dembele in their squad for the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester United on Wednesday. The forward has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, last appearing in the 5-1 win over Lyon in the last 16 second leg clash on March 13, and has been waiting for medical clearance before he can feature.

* Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune will miss the rest of the Premier League season after suffering a "significant" injury to his left knee in Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace, the club said on Monday. Frenchman Lejeune was taken off on a stretcher in the second half of the clash at St James' Park following a challenge with Palace winger Andros Townsend.

* FIFA Women's World Cup hosts France showed no mercy to Denmark with a 4-0 victory in an international friendly on Monday with less than two months to go before the quadrennial tournament. Delphine Cascarino scored a brace for the fourth-ranked France, who also harvested goals from Griedge Mbock and Valerie Gauvin at the Stade de La Meinau in Strasbourg.

* Multi Olympic gold winner Mo Farah is set to defend his title at the Vitality London 10,000 on May 27, organisers said on Monday. The 36-year-old won the 2018 race in a time of 29:44 where he outsprinted British runners Richard Allen (29:48) and Matthew Sharp (29:50) in the final 500m.

* The 19th Asian Games will be held from September 10-25, 2022, the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee announced on Monday.
