Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem won the sixth match of the 2019 Summer Chess Classic held at the Saint Louis Chess Club, the US, on June 25.

It is Liem’s first win in this event. Earlier, he had one defeat
and four draws.
Holding the white pawns, Liem
beat Dariusz Swiercz of the hosts after 56 moves.
After six matches, Liem has
three points. He is now placed only 0.5 points behind the competition’s two
leading chess players, including Jeffery Xiong of the US and David Howell of
England.
The 2019 Summer Chess
Classic, which will last until June 28, is a double round-robin event which
contains three groups of six players.
The winner of the tournament
will receive prize money of US$12,000.
In the previous version of
the tournament, the Spring Chess Classic which was held in March, Liem finished
in third place.
