(HBO) – The 26th traditional fell-running championship – Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup has wrapped up with Da Bac team once again winning the trophy. Da Bac district ranked first in the medal standings with seven first prizes, four second prizes, four third prizes, four consolation prizes and the prizes for the best coach and the best fell-running movement among high school and university students.

Holding the trophy of the
26th traditional fell-running championship – Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup, Director
of Da Bac district’s Centre for Culture and Sports Do Viet Cuong said this was
the fifth straight time the district had won the trophy. It was their happiness
and pride but also their responsibility for achieving high results at other
tournaments. Due to flooding, Da Bac was unable to organise a fell-running
tourney at the district level or make preparations. Its athletes were just
summoned on the opening day of the provincial championship. The 12 runners of
Da Bac, most of whom used to take part in other district and provincial
tourneys, competed in all events of this year’s tournament.
Outstanding racers of Da Bac include Dinh Thanh
Hue, Luong Thi Hong Tan and Dinh Cong Thu. Younger athletes such as Xa Thanh
Son, Ban Van An, Xa Ngoc Thuy and Ban Thu Hue also showed good determination
and achieved certain results. Notably, in the men’s and women’s junior events,
athletes of the district had good competition morale and performance, thus
winning the first, second and third prizes in the individual events and the
first prize in the men’s and women’s junior team events.
To Dinh Thanh Hue, the men’s 7km event did not
match him. With good techniques and endurance, he outpaced other rivals to
finish the race in a short time.
Hueconsidered racing at different tournaments, regardless of district, provincial,
regional or national tourneys, happiness. With his experience and skills, he
gave instruction to younger athletes with a view to training potential racers
for the district.
Luong Thi Hong Tan, who pocketed a gold medal in
a women’s event, said this was the third time she had competed at the
traditional fell-running championship – Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup, and she
obtained a gold medal. Tan was very happy that she won a gold medal this year
after ranking in the middle of the medal table in the first year and earning a
bronze medal in the second year. Her achievement at the tourney was a driving
force for her and other young athletes to continue training and do their best
to attain the best results at future tournaments./.

Enforcement Departments of 7 Provinces in the Northeastern and Mountainous Regions
On February 19th, at the Hoa Binh Province Sports Hall, the Cluster of Judicial Departments and Civil Judgment Enforcement Departments of 7 provinces in the Northeastern and Mountainous regions, including Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Yen Bai, Bac Giang and Phu Tho organized a friendly sports competition. A total of 52 athletes from the provinces in the cluster participated in the competition.

The dramatic match ended in a 0-0 draw when no goals were scored.
