Throughout April, the joyful atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification spread nationwide. Together with the whole country, residents in Hoa Binh city also expressed their patriotism through meaningful and practical actions.

These days, Street 22 of Group 6 in the North Tran Hung Dao residential area, Quynh Lam ward, Hoa Binh city, have become crowded and bustling. Many young people wearing traditional ao dai with red-flag-and-yellow-star decorations have come here to take photos and record memorable moments.

There are 14 households on this street, which is usually quiet but recently seems to gain a new look thanks to the red flags with yellow stars, impressing many people. Ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, locals have joined hands in cleaning and hanging the red flags with yellow stars along the street.

Ngo Thi Kim Chi, a war veteran who served nearly five years in the southern battlefield, shared that to her, a person who used to experience the bombs and bullets of war, the April days are extremely meaningful and emotional. These days are the time she and her comrades look back on the heroic years of the nation and those who fell down so that today’s generation can live in peace.

She said it is even more touching when the sacrifices and losses of the previous generations are remembered and respected by the youth nowadays.

As one of the persons actively participating in decorating Street 22, Ha Phuong Thao said she feels proud that the street where she lives has become popular among many young people who have come here to take pictures.

Thao noted that she wants to express gratitude to the previous generation, and she hopes to teach her children the love for the national flag and peace.


In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, many young people have worn traditional ao dai and carried the national flags to record memorable moments.

On these days, the brilliant red colour of the national flag, the Party flag, and the liberation flag could be seen across Hoa Binh city, from coffee shops, grocery stores, to carts... Many coffee shops not only hang flags, but also catch up with the commemorative atmosphere by proactively designing their spaces and creating products with strong national imprints. Therefore, in addition to historical sites, coffee shops have also become ideal check-in spots where many young people share their moments, spreading love for their hometown and the country. 

Bui Anh Tuan, born in 1975, owner of the Pho Co coffee shop on Cu Chinh Lan street in Phuong Lam ward, said that as a former soldier, he always cherishes and has spent a lot of time collecting war relics. He is really touched to see that many young people grow up during peacetime but know how to appreciate the great values ​​left by former generations.

The Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day has become an unforgettable memory among the Vietnamese people. Small but meaningful actions have inspired today's young generation, helping nurture and foster patriotism in every Vietnamese.
