(HBO) - In Hanoi, the Soroban-Rainbows math community has organized a National Soroban-Rainbows Math Competition for Young Talents in 2018. The Hoa Binh team has 13 pupils from the International Green Star Center of Fostering Talent and Foreign Languages participating in the competition.

At the competition, the contestants
competed in two categories: soroban (using Japanese calculator for
calculations) and finger math (using hands to add, subtract in 99). At each
category, the contestants had to participate in two rounds: looking to
calculate and listening to calculate. 50 calculating rows in 10 minutes of
workout required the contestants to focus on high concentration and thinking
skills. At the end of round 1, 100% of contestants of Hoa Binh delegation
gained the highest points and were allowed to go to the final round.
The final result was that the contestant Ly
Hai Bang, born in 2011 of Hoa Binh won the first prize at the finger math
content; 5 out of 8 second prizes belonged to the contestants from Hoa Binh. In
addition, there were four winners of the third prizes and 1 consolation prize
and two contestants were recognized as The National Soroban-Rainbows Youth
Talents.
