(HBO) - The People’s Committee of Ky Son district has handed over 160 million VND in aid sourced from the district’s social assistance fund to support eight households that were affected by floods in May Giay hamlet, Dan Ha commune.

After heavy rains in late July, serious cracks with a length of over 200 metres appeared along Road 445 at Km 3 + 100 in May Giay hamlet, Dan Ha commune.

Landslide points and more new cracks also occurred in the area
due to the effects of prolonged rains. The Ky Son District People's Committee directed the urgent evacuation of eight households living in risk areas to safe areas.

Accordingly, the district provided rice and 2 million VND to each household. These households are mainly living with relatives or renting houses, so they face many difficulties in daily life.

At the handing-over ceremony, leaders of Ky Son district encouraged the households to strive to overcome difficulties and gradually stabilise their lives. The Ky Son district People’s Committee has asked for the provincial People's Committee’s guidance on resettlement or relocation plans for the eight households to new places as soon as possible.

Localities were asked to do good communication campaigns, helping locals actively cope with natural disasters and extreme weather phenomena that can occur in the coming time.
