(HBO) – The war veterans’ association of the northwestern mountainous province of Hoa Binh on May 7 held a meeting to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7).
The
event was attended by Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Dang Ninh, officers of the
Vietnam People’s Army, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, Heroes of Labour,
representatives of departments and agencies in Hoa Binh, and 90 war veterans
and former youth volunteers and frontline porters of the Dien Bien Phu
campaign.

Sixty-five
years ago, under the Party leadership, Vietnamese army and people promptly
prepared for the Dien Bien Phu campaign.
During
the struggle against French colonists and the Dien Bien Phu campaign, thousands
of people from Hoa Binh province voluntarily joined the army and youth
volunteers as well frontline porters across battlefields. People of various ethnic
groups in Hoa Binh contributed hundreds of tonnes of food and other materials to
the campaign. Local armed forces and people engaged in nearly 1,800 battles,
eleminated and arrested thousands of French soldiers, and seized many weapons
and war equipment from the enemy.
With
the great contributions, people and armed forces of Hoa Binh province, its 10
cities and provinces, and 62 communes, wards and towns have been presented with
the title of "Hero of People’s Armed Forces” and other noble honours of the
Party and State.
During
the meeting, war veterans and former youth volunteers and frontline porters
recalled the wartime. The meeting has encouraged young people to devote more to
national construction and defence.
On
this occasion, Ninh handed over gifts of the provincial Party Committee and
People’s Committee to war veterans, former youth volunteers and frontline
porters of the Dien Bien Phu campaign./.

Through creativity and adaptability, Youth Union organizations at all levels have introduced a series of practical solutions, contributing to modern governance and community development.
In recent years, An Nghia commune, located in Lac Son district, has stepped up administrative reform, focusing on improving the quality and efficiency of its single-window service unit for receiving and processing administrative procedures. These improvements have helped create favourable conditions for local residents and organisations to handle administrative procedures, contributing to the commune’s broader socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister-approved master plan to develop the multi-use value of forests ecosystems through 2030, with a vision to 2050, aims to improve the management and sustainable use of forest resources, create jobs, increase incomes, and improve the living standards of ethnic minorities, people in mountainous and remote areas, forest workers and those living near forests.
