(HBO) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved an investment project for the construction of the Hoa Binh-Moc Chau expressway under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The road system will link Hoa Binh and Son La provinces – the two northwestern tourism hubs. As the road creates a convenient transport system for the localities, it will boost the development of the Hoa Binh reservoir and the Moc Chau national tourism sites, as well as facilitate the implementation of several local projects. It is also expected to ease congestion on National Highway No.6 through Hoa Binh and Son La.

The envisioned highway is to be about 85 km long, of which some 49 km will run through Hoa Binh province and the rest, through Van Ho and Moc Chau districts of Son La province.

After the completion of its first phase at a total cost of over 22.29 trillion VND (952.05 million USD), the road will allow vehicles to travel at 60 – 80 km per hour.
