(HBO) - The officials of the Clinics in Kim Truy Commune (Kim Boi) are examining and consulting the child care knowledge for young mothers in the area.
In 3 years (2016 - 2019), the project "Fairness in accessing the quality health services for mothers and children in mountainous areas" has been implemented in Kim Boi district. The project has been training knowledge and practice of the provincial lecturers, the officials of the clinics’ staff in the district and commune. They have provided the emergency training, examination and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, management of abnormalities in pregnancy, labor and childbirth. They have also trained the village and hamlet nurses on the professional knowledge, the procedures and how to use the maternal and child health monitoring books.
Over 3,000 people have been supported and regularly monitored the application of the maternal and child health monitoring books at clinics of the villages and communes. The seminars on the knowledge of child health care for fathers and child care workers for 880 people and a medical examination and treatment campaign for 1,760 children aged 0-5 years have been organized. They have performed the child health examination and treatment and nutrition counseling at the friendly clinics and nutrition counseling for 3,320 people.
The evaluation results have showed that the participation of people in project activities has reached over 90%; the rate of people studying and using the records to monitor the children’s development is high; 95% of the children have their health checked, 100% of children suffering from acute illness have been treated promptly. By means of "hands-on work", the project has had positive impacts on changing the awareness and improving the capacity for the officials and the people in the project area. The health officials and the people within the project area have had more opportunities to access the way of working scientifically and the useful knowledge on the methods on the health care.
