(HBO) – The asphalt road to the centre of Tan My commune in Lac Son district of Hoa Binh has become convenient for traveling and trade activities with the connection to smaller concrete roads to every villages. The national power grid has reached all households, while the fruit farms are luxuriant. Today, the view of the Muong Khoi former war zone is bright and beautiful.

The model of family farm in Khao village, Tan My commune of Lac Son district, makes the new-style rural picture of the Muong Khoi former war zone brighter.

Khao village head Vu Dinh Khac proudly spoke of the positive changes in his hometown. like locals in other residential areas, Khao villagers have actively united to build a model residential area, contributing to the achievements in new-style rural area building of the locality, he said.

Khac said that the living conditions of locals have been improved greatly, with average per capita income of locals reaching 42 million VND each year. Many households have managed to build big houses, buy cars, motorbikes and valuable household appliances, while supporting other families in economic development and creating jobs for local labourers.

Khao is the first village of the commune to implement the model of 1-hectare farm, which has proved its efficiency.

Tan My is among the bright spots in farming structure transformation of Lac Son district. With their sensitiveness and dynamism, locals have created commercial production regions yielding high income, including the green squash, jicama planting region in Nai, Nac and Troi villages.

The commune has nearly 300 households developing the model of green squash and jicama cultivation with about 60 hectares with an average income of about 200 million VND per hectare. In some villages, the movement of upgrading the family farm with various plants has been promoted, replacing the ineffective plants with others producing higher economic efficiency such as orange, pomelo and jack fruit. So far, the area under orange and pomelo has been expanded to more than 51 hectares.

Along with agricultural production, service and handicraft sectors have also been developed, contributing to creating jobs for hundreds of labourers with one cooperative, 61 business households, four production service groups and three businesses.

Alongside, socio-cultural situation has been improved. The quality of education services has been ensured without any students leaving the school at all levels. The secondary-school universalisation has been reached. In 2019, per capital income of locals reached 35 million VND, which is expected to rise to 40 million in 2020./.
