(HBO) – The youth union of Mobifone Company Zone 4 on October 15 coordinated with Mobifone Hoa Binh in organising a programme entitled "Mobifone youth join hands with people in flood-hit areas” in two communes of Suoi Nanh and Dong Nghe (Da Bac district), with the participation of 30 members. These are two communes hardest hit by recent downpours and floods.

The historic flood since October 9 caused serious damage in Suoi Nanh and Dong Nghe communes and made them isolated. In Dong Nghe commune, one person was missing and nine houses were swept away while mud, land and rocks flooded into 38 houses and destroyed about 30ha of farming land. Electric wires were severely damaged, together with interrupted transportation and water shortages.

Meanwhile in Suoi Nanh commune, four people were missing, 10 houses collapsed, 30 families had to move while their domestic animals were killed or swept away and farming land was heavily damaged.

With the motto "the good leaves protect ripped ones”, Mobifone Company Zone 4 called for support of all grassroots-level youth organisations nationwide to help ease difficulties faced by people in flood-hit areas in Da Bac and give them motivations to overcome this difficult time. It also raised young people’s awareness of helping other people in the community. Mobifone presented 160 gift packages, each worth 300,000 VND, to residents of the two communes. Each package includes instant noodles, provisions, drinking water, antibiotic, flashlights, candles and lighters. Besides the gifts, members of the delegation also guided local people to sterilise water and participated in clean-ups of road, schools and local houses that affected by floods.

*The same day, the youth union of the provincial Ethnic Boarding High school offered support in the three communes of Suoi Nanh, Dong Ruong and Dong Nghe, with the participation of representatives from the youth unions of Hoa Binh city and Da Bac district.
