(HBO) - In 2014, Dung Phong commune (Cao Phong) was the first destination of the new rural area of the province. Promoting the achievements, Dung Phong started the construction of the advanced new rural area and by 2019 the commune was recognized by to meet the standards of the advanced new rural area by the Provincial People's Committee.

Most of the women in Dung Phong commune have consciously been preserving the cultural identity of Muong ethnic group through the transmission of Muong gongs.

Mr. Bui Van Lien, the Chairman of the Communal People's Committee, says: the Party committee, the authority and the people in the commune have determined that in order to build the advanced new rural area, it is necessary to promote the results achieved in building it, improving the quality of 19 criteria for the new rural area. Based on the actual situations, the commune has reviewed the criteria to assign responsibility for the commune and the helmets, the roadmap and implementation solutions. The task of economic development to improve the people's lives has been brought to the fore. On the basis of the resolutions of the Party Committee and People's Council, the communal People's Committee annually concretizes the formulation of socio-economic development plans. In addition, the Communal People's Committee has coordinated with the hamlets to continue the propaganda and mobilize people to voluntarily contribute funds, donate land to build rural roads and cultural houses.

In order to improve the living standards, the communal Party committee and authority have been actively mobilizing the people to change the structure of crops and animals, not let agricultural land fallow, encouraging the development of the collective economy and effective application of scientific and technical progress in production. The production links along the value chain for key products have ensured the food quality and safety in association with the development orientations of the local service and tourism. The commune changed the ineffective rice-growing area to sugarcane, converted from hilly gardens to citrus fruit trees, bringing about high economic efficiency. Currently, in the whole commune there are 304.5 hectares of sugarcane growing, 184 hectares of citrus trees. Many families earn high income from citrus growing. Typically, the household of Mr. Bui Van Ky from Dong Nhat hamlet collects about 300-400 million VND / year from planting oranges and pomelos. In addition, many households have invested in raising pigs for meat and breeding pigs on the commercial scale. In parallel with agricultural development, Dung Phong commune has been promoting the development of industry - handicraft, traditional businesses and trades such as sewing, brocade weaving. There are 94 households doing business in the whole commune. In 2020, the average income of the commune has reached 47 million VND / person (in 2015 it was 28 million VND); the poverty household rate has decreased to 4.3% (in 2015 it was 7.5%).

On the journey of building new rural areas and building advanced ones, the officials and the People of Dung Phong commune have make every effort to preserve the cultural beauty of Muong ethnic people. The words, the spoken language, the lifestyle, the costumes, the musical instruments ... have been preserved in each house. In the last 2 years, Muong Thang Festival has been restored and held annually in the commune in early spring, attracting the participation of many people in the area. On this occasion, almost 100% of the women in the commune wear traditional costumes of their own ethnic group to show the pride and to the preserve cultural identity. The local people have actively responded to the movement of "All people unite to build a cultural life.” In 2020, in the whole commune there have been 7 out of the 7 residential areas gaining the cultural title, 775 out of the 905 households reaching the title of the cultural family, and Dong Nhat helmet has won the consolation prize in the province's contest of the model of the new residential area in the period of 2018 - 2020.
