(HBO) – The Department of Finance of Hoa Binh province held a conference on January 15 to review financial and budgetary affairs in 2020 and launch tasks for this year.

In 2020, the collection for the State budget
received due attention as departments, sectors, and authorities at the district
and communal levels worked closely with taxation agencies in budget collection.
As a result, 4.11 trillion VND (177.7 million USD) was collected for the State
budget in Hoa Binh. Almost 14.1 trillion VND was collected for the local
budget, 13 percent higher than the target set by the Prime Minister, 8 percent
more than the target set in the resolution of the provincial People’s Council,
and 8 percent higher than the previous year’s revenue.
The management of the State budget spending was
also enhanced to ensure thrift and effectiveness. The province spent over 14
trillion VND from the local budget in 2020, respectively up 12 percent, 8
percent, and 8 percent from the figures targeted by the Prime Minister and the
provincial People’s Council, and the previous year’s expenditure.
Aided with funding from the central budget, Hoa
Binh allocated more than 300 billion VND for procuring equipment, conducting concentrated
quarantine, setting up health checkpoints, and purchasing disinfectant for the
COVID-19 combat.
In 2021, the financial sector looks to fulfill
the assigned budget collection and spending tasks: collecting 5.07 trillion VND
for the State budget and 15.5 trillion VND for the local budget, disbursing
15.45 trillion VND from the local budget, and ensuring thrifty and effective
spending.
Addressing the conference, Standing Vice
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Toan noted that
although natural disasters and the pandemic affected Hoa Binh’s socio-economic
development in 2020, the financial sector submitted timely advice about
financial and budgetary affairs to the provincial People’s Committee while
keeping the State budget expenditure thrifty and effective.
To fulfill tasks for this year, he asked the
Department of Finance to proactively make plans, assign duties to each
individual, and build a plan for implementing the resolution of the 17th
provincial Party Congress for 2020-2025.
It also needs to instruct localities ways to
manage, use, and auction public land in line with regulations, increase
inspections and monitoring to ensure transparency in the use of the State
budget, and ready funding for COVID-19 prevention and control, he added.
On this occasion, Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary
of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s
Committee, and 63 other cadres were rewarded with the "For the cause of
Vietnam’s finance” insignia from the Ministry of Finance. The Director of the
provincial Department of Finance presented merit certificates to collectives
and individuals with outstanding achievements in financial and budgetary
affairs in 2020./.
