(HBO) – Hoa Binh and the neighbouring Son La have been discussing ways to develop a highway connecting the former’s Hoa Binh City and the latter’s Moc Chau district, with a view to early implementing the project to boost the two provinces’ development.

The Hoa Binh – Moc Chau highway starts at an interchange of National Highway No.6 in Trung Minh commune, Hoa Binh City, the capital of Hoa Binh province.

In 2018, the two provinces announced planning for the Hoa Binh – Son La highway in 2018. Accordingly, the route will be nearly 190km long with an estimated investment of 50.27 trillion VND.

The project includes two phases, with the first being the Hoa Binh – Moc Chau highway. Authorities are considering technical standards for the road and seeking eligible investors and suitable source of investment for the Phase 1.

The Hoa Binh – Son La Expressway aims to connect Son La with Hoa Binh and Hanoi and at large, create transport linkages between the Northwestern region and the northern key economic region.

It is also intended to reduce pressure for National Highway No.6, cut travel time from Hanoi to Hoa Binh City and Kim Boi, and boost transport connectivity and trade between Hoa Binh and Ha Nam, Phu Tho and Son La as well as between the provinces with the national transport network.

Additionally, the project will help Hoa Binh bring into the full play its strengths and unleash its potential for the development of services and tourism, and create new momentum for socio-economic development./.
