(HBO) – Residents in Hoa Binh province have enjoyed a peaceful and merry Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, which is greatly attributable to tireless efforts the local public security force.
On January 10, 2022, Team 223 and relevant units of the provincial Department of Public Security in coordination with police of Tan Lac district uncovered and arrested two persons trafficking a large amount of drug.
The time just before, during and after Tet is often considered a "sensitive" period with crimes such as theft and robbery tending to surge. Therefore, to ensure social order and safety, each public security officer has always brought into play their highest sense of responsibility to fulfill duties, said Sen. Lt. Col. Kieu Huy Toan, deputy head of the public security division in Luong Son district.
Col. Truong Quang Hai, Deputy Director of the provincial Public Security Department, said the crime situation is predicted to remain complex and unpredictable in 2022 while the COVID-19 pandemic will continue affecting the security and social order in Hoa Binh province. However, with a high sense of responsibility, the public security force has managed to achieve the twin targets of reducing crimes by at least 5 percent and joining those working in the frontline of the COVID-19 combat.
Since the start of 2022, the police force province-wide has proactively stepped up communications about the security and order protection plan and increased encouraging all people to help safeguard the Fatherland’s security and fight against crimes. In particular, it launched a crime crackdown campaign to guarantee security for Tet.
During the month-long campaign, police uncovered 37 cases with 56 suspects involved in social order-related crimes, 31 drug-related cases with 44 suspects, one case with one suspect of economic crime, and two cases with four suspects of environmental crime.
Regarding the COVID-19 combat, the provincial department has coordinated with relevant sectors to identify pandemic levels so as to take appropriate anti-COVID-19 measures. It has also worked closely with the provincial Centre for Disease Control and district-level health centres to connect the population database with COVID-19 vaccination, testing, and patient data. Besides, it has ordered police in localities across Hoa Binh to guarantee security and order at quarantine sites.
Those efforts have created an important basis for local police to excellently fulfill their duties - firmly safeguarding political security and social order and safety, and joining hands with other sectors to effectively cope with COVID-19 in 2022, Col. Truong Quang Hai added./.
