(HBO) – Youngsters in Hoa Binh have voluntarily joined COVID-19 prevention and control activities and implemented many effective models to support pandemic-hit residents.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Luong Son district has launched the model of "voluntary youth teams” involving 135 volunteers to support COVID-19 vaccination activities.

Bui Thi Bich Huong, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Committee of Huu Nghi ward in Hoa Binh city, said that as the number of COVID-19 cases has surged in the locality, the union has coordinated with the ward’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and relevant agencies to implement the model of sorting waste originated from COVID-19 patients in families. The union has delivered 300 bins recycled from paint cans to families with COVID-19 patients and instruct them to sort waste in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidance.

Bui Anh Xung, Secretary of the HCYU Committee of Luong Son district said that zero-dong goods pavilions have been one of the effective models to support pandemic-hit locals. Meanwhile, many meals have been provided for people undertaking quarantine, he said.

Meanwhile, Hoang Duc Minh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial HCYU Committee, said that along with actively engaging in popularising COVID-19 prevention and control measures, the union has called for support to the pandemic fight from local units and residents. Last year, the provincial HCYU members engaged in preparing 5,273 meals and presented more than 300 others to the needy, while donating 3,000 face masks, water and instant noodles and medical supplies to COVID-19 checkpoints and quarantine sites, while offering 55 million VND worth of necessities to Ho Chi Minh City.

HCYU committees at all levels in Hoa Binh also mobilised 3,278 social welfare bags for pandemic-hit people.

So far, the province has set up over 1,000 community-based COVID-19 teams involving nearly 3,000 HCYU members, contributing to pushing back the pandemic./.
