(HBO) – The Hoa Binh provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has held a conference to review performance in 2022 and launch tasks for 2023. Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su attended the event.

In
2022, the local agro-forestry-fisheries sector posted GRDP growth of about
4.57%, 1.56% higher than the target, and production value of over 12.48
trillion VND (539.2 million USD). So far, authorities have granted 21
production unit codes, along with the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), food
safety, and organic certificates to nearly 2,298ha of products, 1,945 fish
cages, and 22 animal husbandry establishments.
Considerable
improvements have also been recorded in agricultural export. Many key produce
such as sugarcane, longan, banana, and citrus fruits have been sold to
demanding markets like the US, the Republic of Korea, and the EU.
This
year, Hoa Binh province has developed 23 products meeting standards of the "One
Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme, raising the total number of OCOP
products to 123, including 99 given three stars and 24 with four stars.
Eight
more communes were recognised as new-style rural areas. Across the province,
each commune has met an average of 16 new-style countryside criteria. Besides,
95.5% of the rural residents have accessed hygienic water. The forest coverage
stays stable, at more than 51.5%.
Addressing
the event, Vice
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su said there will be
many difficulties and challenges hindering the performance of socio-economic
development tasks in 2023. Given this, the agriculture and rural development
sector should bring into play its successes obtained in 2022 while closely
coordinating with other sectors and localities to stay active and creative to
successfully perform tasks for next year.
To
achieve the target, he asked the sector to develop concentrated farming in
connection with the processing industry and the market; step up researching,
transferring, and applying scientific and technical advances, with priority given
to high technology and advanced scientific and technological solutions;
increase investment attraction to agriculture and rural development; boost the
management of agricultural supplies quality and food safety; and promote the
sale and export of farm produce.
At
the conference, many collectives and individuals were granted certificates of
merit by the provincial People’s Committee and Department of Agriculture and
Rural Development in recognition of their excellent performance of duties./.
