(HBO) – The Hoa Binh provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has held a conference to review performance in 2022 and launch tasks for 2023. Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su attended the event.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su presents the province’s "Emulation Role Model” title to those with outstanding performance.

In 2022, the local agro-forestry-fisheries sector posted GRDP growth of about 4.57%, 1.56% higher than the target, and production value of over 12.48 trillion VND (539.2 million USD). So far, authorities have granted 21 production unit codes, along with the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), food safety, and organic certificates to nearly 2,298ha of products, 1,945 fish cages, and 22 animal husbandry establishments.

Considerable improvements have also been recorded in agricultural export. Many key produce such as sugarcane, longan, banana, and citrus fruits have been sold to demanding markets like the US, the Republic of Korea, and the EU.

This year, Hoa Binh province has developed 23 products meeting standards of the "One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme, raising the total number of OCOP products to 123, including 99 given three stars and 24 with four stars.

Eight more communes were recognised as new-style rural areas. Across the province, each commune has met an average of 16 new-style countryside criteria. Besides, 95.5% of the rural residents have accessed hygienic water. The forest coverage stays stable, at more than 51.5%.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su said there will be many difficulties and challenges hindering the performance of socio-economic development tasks in 2023. Given this, the agriculture and rural development sector should bring into play its successes obtained in 2022 while closely coordinating with other sectors and localities to stay active and creative to successfully perform tasks for next year.

To achieve the target, he asked the sector to develop concentrated farming in connection with the processing industry and the market; step up researching, transferring, and applying scientific and technical advances, with priority given to high technology and advanced scientific and technological solutions; increase investment attraction to agriculture and rural development; boost the management of agricultural supplies quality and food safety; and promote the sale and export of farm produce.

At the conference, many collectives and individuals were granted certificates of merit by the provincial People’s Committee and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in recognition of their excellent performance of duties./.
