(HBO) - With a population of over 140,000 people, Muong ethnic group accounts for 90%, Lac Son district is making efforts to carry out the ethnic work, integrating the project programs and policies to contribute to creating a transition in the socio-economic development, implementing sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.


Kop Den hamlet, Ngoc Lau commune (Lac Son) is supported by the institution of the cultural houses in the National Target Program for the socio-economic development in the areas of ethnic minority and mountainous ones.

The road to Doi Thung area, Quy Hoa commune has been widened and concreted, helping to reduce the hardships of the upland people significantly. In many disadvantaged communes in the district the roads have been invested to upgrade and expand with the funds from programs and projects, typically the DH.75 road from Nhan Nghia commune to Quy Hoa commune with a total length of 17 ,5 kilometres; DH.72B, Thuong Coc - Van Son - Mien Doi road is 9.76km long; road DH.74 Nhan Nghia - Mien Doi is 10.2km long… Before that, the road DH.17 Dinh Cu - Ngoc Son - Ngoc Lau - Tu Do with the length of 16km has also been invested, opening up the direction for the socio-economic development in the highland areas.

According to Mr. Bui Van Duong, the Vice Chairman of the District’s People's Committee, along with the results of the previous programs and projects, the National Target Program for the socio-economic development in the areas of ethnic minorities and mountainous ones (Ethnic Minority & Mountainous Areas) has been implemented in 13 specially difficult communes (Van Son, My Thanh, Quy Hoa, Van Nghia, Settlement, Tu Do, Tuan Dao, Binh Alley, Ngoc Lau, Chi Dao, Ngoc Son) , Mien Doi, Quyet Thang) and 5 communes with particularly difficult hamlets (Vu Binh, Tan Lap, An Nghia, Tan My, Thuong Coc). The program has been concerned and directed by all levels and branches to deploy in a timely and synchronous manner in order to stabilize the socio-economic development of the ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in the locality.

The District’s People's Committee has established the Steering Committee for the district's National Target Programs and the Program's Coordination Office to approve the scheme for the program implementation in the period of 2021 - 2025 in the district... At the same time, continued to implement the programs. Projects and policies that have been and are still being implemented have an impact, support to promote the fulfillment of criteria for rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, ensuring social security, and contributing to social security. improve and enhance the material and spiritual life of the people, contributing to the accomplishment of the district's general socio-economic development goals and targets.

In the period of 2021-2023, 7 essential infrastructure works have been completed (the inner field roads, the village’s cultural house); maintaining and repairing 69 out of the 69 works; opening 5 vocational training classes for the local people, buying the training equipment for the vocational training institutions; supporting the institutions of cultural houses for 10 hamlets in extremely difficult communes, providing the scattered domestic water for 1,364 households; organizing conferences to honor the prestigious people and presenting gifts to 249 reputable people; opening 7 propaganda classes on consanguineous marriage and child marriage; building 7 core groups of commune-level legal propaganda. In addition, the district’s Women's Union has established 18 safe addresses, 18 clubs for leaders of change, and 36 community communication groups.

Mr. Bui Van Duong, the Vice Chairman of the District’s People's Committee says: In 2023, the total capital allocated under the program according to Decision No. 654/QD-UBND dated April 4, 2023 of the Provincial People's Committee is over 55.46 billion VND. By June 30, the disbursement of the investment capital for development reached about 10.4%, the economic non-business capital reached 15%. The program has 10 projects and many sub-projects relating to many fields, so the coordination, organization and implementation are not timely and synchronous. In the coming time, the district will continue strengthening the propaganda of the Party's guidelines and policies, and the laws of the State to the ethnic minorities; coordinating to well implement the programs, the projects and the policies for the ethnic minorities in the locality in the direction of prioritizing the infrastructure lists of the criteria in the construction of new rural areas; well implementing the policies for the reputable people among the ethnic minorities, promoting the role of the reputable people in the population community, developing social economy, building the national unity block; speeding up the implementation of the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in the areas of the ethnic minorities and the mountainous regions in the period of 2021-2025 period.
