Thanks to tireless efforts, Yen Tri was recognised as model new-style rural commune in Hoa Binh province in 2021 after a decade of implementing new-style rural area building programme in the locality.

According to Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Yen Tri commune Bui Van Thong, the Party Committee of the locality has issued relevant resolutions and popularised them to each Party cell and member.

The communal administration has also mobilised resources to support local residents in participating in health insurance.

For the construction of rural roads, the local Party Committee and administration have directed the harmonious implementation of criteria, through applying the integration of programmes and projects as well as well performing campaigns and movements with the support from the State budget and contributions from the local community, and the engagement of economic sectors

Attention has been paid to campaigns to raise public awareness of the importance of new-style rural building, thus mobilising locals’ land contribution to build rural roads and public works of the commune.

These efforts have helped the locality get a facelift, and while the material and spiritual life of local people has been increasingly improved.

With the orientation of building new-style rural areas based on local resources and potential, the local administration has focused on developing and expanding specialised agriculture models with the cultivation of valuable and high-yield crops.

The commune is maintaining 100 ha of peanut, develops the Yen Thuy peanut brand, and gradually builds a growing area code for 20 ha of this crop as a basis for export. In addition, it has also developed 20 ha of taro growing area, 10 ha of vegetables, 20 ha of citrus fruits meeting VietGAP standard, 80 ha of high-yield rice, and 30 ha of medical herbs.  

The per capita income in the commune reaches 64 million VND (2,626 USD) per year. The rate of poor households in the commune accounts for only 1.58% of its total population.

Thong said the local administration has created favourable conditions for cooperative groups and cooperatives to operate and set up sustainable links, thus stabilising the markets for local products.
