Currently, Hoa Binh province has 226,541 children, accounting for 25.8% of its population, of whom 2,886 are living in special circumstances and nearly 53,000 at risk of falling into special circumstances. Child protection, care and education have always received due attention from local Party committees, administrations, departments, agencies and organisations, thus creating a favourable living environment and conditions for children to ensure their basic rights and comprehensive development.

In recent years, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has actively advised the provincial People's Committee to issue many documents on child affairs; and promulgated documents guiding the implementation, building and organisation of inspection and supervision of child protection and care.

Defining that the communications plays an important role in child protection, care and education, localities have organised a lot of communications activities with rich and diverse forms on preventing accidents, injuries, drowning and child abuse. As a result, awareness and responsibility of families, schools, agencies, organisations and the whole society have been raised.

In addition, the work has been carried out through many practical activities. Every year, on the occasion of holidays and lunar New Year (Tet) festivals, tens of thousands of gift packages are given to local children, especially those living in special and difficult circumstances.

According to Nguyen Thi Linh Ngoc, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the work has achieved many encouraging results in 2023, especially in raising awareness of children's right to participate in issues related to them, and through increases in the number of children receiving gifts on the occasion of Children's Day (June 1) and Mid-Autumn Festival. Local Party committees and administrations have also paid due attention to supporting children suffering from accidents and injuries, victims of sexual abuse, and those living in difficult circumstances.
