The Federation of Labour of Hoa Binh province on January 25 evening organised the "Tet sum vay – Xuan chia se” (Reunion Tet – Sharing spring) programme in 2024 in Luong Son district.

Attending the event were Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Bui Duc Hinh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Bui Tien Luc, head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Commission and President of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee; and Quach Tat Liem, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, among others.

At the programme, leaders presented 200 Tet gifts worth 1.2 million VND (48.7 USD) each to workers in difficult circumstances who are members of the trade unions of industrial parks, the health sector, the education sector, and Luong Son district’s Labour Federation. Ten outstanding enterprises that take good care of their employees were awarded the certificate of merit "For the workers" by the provincial Federation of Labour.

The programme created a chance for Party committees, authorities, unions and the entire political system to show their attention to activities to care for Tet for employees, helping increase trust in trade unions, and creating motivation for labourers to work hard. The programme prioritises workers living in difficult circumstances, suffering from labour accidents, occupational diseases and serious illness, or being affected by natural disasters, working hour reduction, job loss.

The provincial Federation of Labour has issued a plan with the motto "All trade union members and employees have Tet". It plans to present 1,800 gifts worth over 1.9 billion VND to workers in difficult circumstances, of which 400 gifts totalling 200 million VND are mobilised from agencies and units. In addition, the federation proposes employers give Tet gifts, bus tickets or transportation for workers to return home. For workers who do not return to their hometown, a programme named "Tet not far from home" will be held in an appropriate form.

Speaking at the event, Long praised the trade unions at all levels for well performing their functions of representing, caring for and protecting legal and legitimate rights and interests of employees, especially the organisation of practical activities to take care of disadvantaged workers on the Tet occasion. Amidst difficulties in 2023, businesses have made efforts to cut spending, maintain production, ensure benefits for employees, and minimise layoffs. He expressed his hope that employees will continue to try together with businesses to overcome difficulties, maintain operations, and ensure jobs and income.

On the occasion of the new year, the leader extended his best wishes to the province’s employers and employees.
