A delegation of the Northern Power Corporation (NPC) led by its General Director Nguyen Duc Thien had a meeting with the Party Committee of Hoa Binh province on August 6 to discuss measures to remove difficulties in implementing power projects in the province.

The meeting saw the participation of Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Quach Tat Liem, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; leaders of local departments and agencies; standing members of Party Committees of districts and Hoa Binh city; and representatives from Hoa Binh Power Company.

Currently, the NPC is implementing eight 110kV projects in Hoa Binh province, including four new line transmission projects, three new transformer station ones and another on a transmission line from the Yen Thuy 220kV transformer station.

All the projects are expected to complete by between the end of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025. Once completed, the projects will help meet the electricity demand of cement factories, avoid overload and ensure power supply for local socio-economic development.

In the 2021-2030 period, the province plans to add eight industrial parks, bringing the total area of industrial parks to 3,569 ha. In the 2024-2025 period, the province’s total registered capacity is 252.6MW; commercial electricity output by 2025 is expected to be about 1.639 billion kWh, with average growth of 10.20% per year.

However, power projects in the province are facing difficulties and obstacles relating to investment procedures, site clearance, planning and prices.

The NPC General Director agreed on the solutions and orientations that delegates raised and discussed at the meeting. He hoped that in the coming time, Hoa Binh province and the NPC will strengthen coordination in implementing the projects and removing difficulties. He suggested assigning the Hoa Binh Power Company with task of taking responbility for organsing the implementation of the projects, and providing updated information for relevant parties. The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee thanked the NPC for investing in power infrastructure and ensuring power supply for the province’s production, businsess and people’s dailylife activities.

In the coming time, the province will promote attracting investment from large enterprises to develop high-tech industry, service tourism, clean agriculture, so its demand for electricity is very large, Long noted, calling for further coordination with the power sector for socio-economic development.

He asked the NPC to strengthen coordination with the provincial departments and agencies to review planning, remove difficulties, and direct activities of the Hoa Binh Power Company's activities. He also asked departments, agencies, People's Committees of districts and Hoa Binh city to speed up the process of approving investment proposals for power projects, completing site clearance and improve the power supply system in the province.
