The meeting aimed to seek measures to bolster bilateral defence cooperation. The two sides will continue to discuss the proposal for Singapore’s F-15 fighting jets to train at New Zealand’s Ohakea Air Force Base.

In addition, the ministers will revise and complete the bilateral defence relationship framework, thus promoting defence cooperation activities of the two countries in the future.

Aside from bilateral defence cooperation, Singapore and New Zealand are members of multilateral defence cooperation mechanisms, including the Five Power Defence Agreement (between the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore) and the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus.
