(HBO) – To handle with the consequence of the flood, the People's Committee of Mai Chau district already instructed all levels, sectors and members of the District Steering Committee of Disaster Prevention and Victim Rescue to visit the grassroots of communes and towns for checking, inspecting and urging the plans of flood prevention with the motto "four right at the place", at the same time, focusing all forces to help local people overcome difficulties.

At the deep
flooded areas
There is no
damage of human resources in the whole district. There are 27 houses being slid
down that need to be emergently removed, 1 house being flooded, 19 houses in
Tan Mai, Tan Dan, Tan Son, Phuc San and one nursery school in Mo Rut village,
Tan Mai commune are all in highly potential land-sliding condition. The area of
rice being flooded and covered or washed away is 14.91 hectares and 10.7
hectares of vegetable area. Six of the cattle died and were washed away. The
amount of soil and rocks buried and damaged many sections of canals and being
swept away about 55 metres; Chieng Chau reservoir is infiltrated through the
dam body at a distance of 3.5 m from the peak of the dam, the infiltration
scope is 150 meter squares. Two medium and low voltage electricity poles were
collapsed into the houses, one high voltage power line was cut off and one
power cord was broken in Tan Mai commune, two power poles were in danger of
being collasped in Dong Bang commune. Particularly, about the traffic in the
area of Tong Dau T-junction in Tong Dau commune, which is located on the
highway QL6, Km 131 + 200, from dawn on July 21st , heavy rains have led to
higher water levels of 2 meters deep and 400 meters long. In addition, heavy
rains caused many landslides, many key roads, which causes congestion, some
places have been isolated for many hours, causing difficulties to rescue local
people such as the routes of Dong Bang - So Lo , Phuc San - Tan Dan, Go Lao -
Ba Khan, Thung Khe - Pu Bin, Na Meo - Bao La, Pa Co - Hang Kia.

Soan, the Head of Agriculture and Rural Development Board of Mai Chau district
said: "With 21 households and 75 people in Mo Rut village, Tan Mai commune
where flash floods and pipe floods occurred and threatened their lives and
properties, the district's functional forces have timely moved the households
to the safe place. At the same time, they submitted a written request to the
provincial People's Committee to study and consider the construction of new
resettlement areas for the households of Mo Rut village to stabilize their
lives and production".
