(HBO) – To be an extremely difficult commune in the highland in Lac Son district, but in 2017, Ngoc Son commune has 67% of the households meeting the standards of cultural families, 6/8 hamlets achieved cultural villages. The customs which is no longer suitable are gradually being removed. Ngoc Son commune people are joining hands to actively build up their cultural life.

Ngoc Son commune has 8 hamlets, 667 households with 2,800 people, of which the Muong ethnic minority accounts for 98% of the population. The special feature of this land is that nearly 90% of the local people's houses are floor - wooden stilt houses.


The people living in Cha hamlet, Ngoc Son commune (Lac Son) develop concrete brick production, contributing to increase their income and escape poverty.

 

In addition, the commune shows the concern about the synchronous implementation of measures to ensure the order security, push back the social evils. Currently, Ngoc Son commune has no addicts, no cases of child marriage, no hot spots in the order security, people's life is stable. The commune actively propagandizes, mobilizes the local people to push back the depraved customs. The people living in the commune are mainly Muong ethnic people with traditional customs and traditions related to good news and bad news. In order to build a new cultural life, the commune has propagandized and mobilized the local people to reduce the depraved customs such as high exacting wedding - presents, long days of funeral. All the hamlets built the hamlet conventions, the hamlet regulations of implementing new cultural life, such as funeral cannot be held over 24h, people cannot play music after 22 p.m at the wedding. Some rituals such as Mo long days in the funeral were also reduced to not become the economic burden for each family.

The task of environmental sanitation is especially in interest. A preliminary survey of households along some hamlet roads showed that there were no longer any cases of raising cattle under the floor. Cattle and poultry are kept in cages away from home.

In order to practically build up the cultural life, the households have actively expanded many types of production, economic development, bringing into full play their local strengths in agriculture and forestry and finding suitable sectors and jobs. This has contributed to raising incomes, reducing the percentage of poor households in the commune, improving the quality of life for the local people. Despite many difficulties, the commune has raised its average income to 15 million VND / person / year and strives to achieve 10/19 criteria for New Rural Construction in 2018.

The construction of building cultural families and cultural villages is also focused and initially achieved some remarkable results.
