(HBO) – As the main anti-drug force of Hoa Binh city, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Office, which gathers many young officers, has eased the "heat” of drug, reducing its spread in the community. The most outstanding example of the force is Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Anh (in photo), who has made excellent feats of arms.

All 15 wards and communes of Hoa Binh city
have drug addicts and crimes, with about 600 drug addicts reported in the city
each year.
Given this, Lieut. Gen. Hung, head of the
unit, and his colleagues have learnt about the number of drug addicts and
utilised community strength in drug combat. He has given consultations to local
Party Committees and authorities in popularising drug-related laws and building
models of drug addict management and education in the community. The officer
has also partnered with the city’s culture and information division to organise
mobile talks and launch hundreds of anti-drug slogans. Such mass organisations
as the youth union, women’s association and fatherland front have also
encouraged their members to commit not to getting involved in social bad deeds
and drug crime, while engaging in building cultural families and cultural
residential areas. Such efforts aim to expand the combat against crimes,
especially those related to drug, in the society. As a result, the number of
drug addicts in the locality dropped from 672 in 2013 to 550 at present. More
than 309 drug addicts have been sent to rehabilitation centres.
Over the past five years, Hung and his
colleagues busted 32 drug rings and 308 cases, seizing 42 people involved
together with tens of heroin bricks and thousands of meth pills.
With the outstanding achievements, Hung has
been honoured as a role model in emulation movements, and received certificates
of merit by the Ministry of Public Security and the Director of Hoa Binh
province’s Police Department.
The provincial Police Department also presented
the officer with the title of the role model in the campaign encouraging police
officers to follow Uncle Ho’s teachings during the 2013-2018 period./.
