HBO – "Beloved porridge pot” is a charitable activity which has been jointly organised by Yen Thuy district’s Red Cross, "For the Heart of Children” Charity Club, and donors from inside and outside Hoa Binh province.

over free cups of porridge to patients.
The progamme has been
implemented since December 2, 2018. After three weeks, the club provided free
porridge for nearly 400 people, thus making them feel warmer when having
medical check-ups and treatment at Yen Thuy district’s General Hospital.
At 10am every Sunday,
volunteers of the club come to the hospital to provide free porridge for poor
patients. To define the beneficiaries, club members come to each department to
reckon and deliver tickets to receive porridge to each patient. Club members
gather on Saturday evenings to allocate work to each member. In the early
morning of Sunday, they buy ingredients to make porridge to ensure that the porridge
is always fresh, delicious, nutritious and hygienic
Each pot of porridge
is estimated at over 700,000 VND which is raised from donors and local units
and enterprises. Club members have to prepare two pots of porridge each time.
The main ingredients for the pots are bones, meat and vegetables, and they are
changed after each time to ensure nutrition.

Hung commune shared: "This is the first time I have received free porridge. I
feel very glad and warm. I am caring for my daughter who is being hospitalised.
As my family is poor, I am provided with free porridge on Saturday. This is a
significant charitable activity. I hope the club will have more charitable activities
like this to help disadvantaged families like us”.
Le Van Thuan, co-head
of the club, said: "the ‘For the Heart of Children’ Charity Club was set up on
December 25, 2012. We carried out charitable activities in many places in Dien
Bien, Lai Chau and Gia Lai. At present, we maintain the organisation of the
‘beloved porridge pot’ model at Yen Thuy district’s General Hospital. We plan
to provide free milk for patients who are living in difficult circumstances”./.
