Tan Lac district of the north-western province of Hoa Binh held the third congress of ethnic minorities on June 10, 2019 with the participation 150 delegates representing nearly 74,000 ethnic people in the district.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s
Committee Bui Van Cuu presented congratulatory bouquets at the event.
The
congress set a target that by 2024, extremely disadvantaged communes account
for only 30 percent of total communes and towns, while infrastructure of other
communes will meet standards of the national target programme on building
new-style rural areas.
Poverty rate
in extremely disadvantaged communes is expected to decline by 4-5 percent per
year, and average income per capita in those communes hit over 25 million VND (1,070
USD).
Addressing
the event, Cuu asked the district to pay attention to popularizing guidelines
and policies on ethnic affairs of the Party and State in the coming time.
Tan Lac
must strive for comprehensive socio-economic development, in line with the implementation
of ethnic affair policies, conservation and development of cultural identity,
as well as ensuring social welfare and security-order in the locality.
At the
event, 14 delegates were selected to attend the Hoa Binh province’s third
Congress of ethnic minorities. The delegates approved a letter of the congress.
On the
occasion, the People’s Committee of the district handed over awards to 10
collectives and 24 individuals with outstanding achievements in strengthening
and promoting solidarity of the district’s ethnic groups./.
The Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province held a conference on March 18 to review the performance of the "Safe and Happy School" Project and set out tasks for 2025. The project, funded by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students.
