Bui Van Vuong in Van
hamlet, Lien Son commune (Luong Son district) moved into his new house over a
year ago, although sometimes he still thinks that he was dreaming. He had been
living in difficulties and his wife was perennially ill, so he could not build
a proper house for the family.
In addition to assistance
worth 20 million VND (about 870 USD) of all levels of the farmer associations,
its commune level one helped him with the construction cost.
The 55-sq.m.-house was
completed after more than two months of construction. The total construction
cost was nearly 90 million VND, funded primarily by his family members,
relatives and the community. Farmers in the commune and hamlet also helped
Vuong build the house so that he had a shelter before the rainy season.
Last June, the association
in Yen Thuy district handed over a house and financial aid for farmer Bui Van
Thiep in Luong Thanh hamlet, Lac Luong commune. The house, 50 sq.m, was built
at a cost of 86 million VND funded by staff and members of the farmer
association and local organisations.
The campaign to build
houses for disadvantaged farmers has been carried out by the associations of
farmers at district and city levels. Since the start of the year, construction
of seven houses has started with support of between 20-25 million VND for each
across the districts of Kim Boi, Yen Thuy, Da Bac and Tan Lac. Two of those Da
Bac and Yen Thuy were handed over to farmers.
Furthermore, the
province’s farmer association joined hands with the Fatherland Front Committee
to build five "great unity” houses for poor families in Lac Son district, with
assistance worth 30 million VND for each./.
