(HBO) – The Community Learning Centre and the Learning Encouragement Association of Luong Son township on October 1 launched the 2021-2022 academic year and opened a week of activities responding to the 2021 lifelong learning campaign, which is themed "digital transformation and life-long learning opportunity for all in the age of COVID-19”.

At the ceremony, the Luong Son township's Learning Encouragement Association honoured nine managing officials and nine excellent teachers as well as 49 students with outstanding academic performance. The students included one high school student who won an international prize, three primary pupils winning prizes at national competitions, and one taking the top position in the recent university entrance exam.

Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh, Chairwoman of the association, said that over the years, the association has actively given advice to the Party Committee and administration of the Luong Son township on measures to promote learning encouragement as well as the development of a learning society.

At the same time, the association has coordinated with relevant agencies to implement various activities to contribute to raising public awareness of regular and lifelong learning as well as the building of learning community at the grassroots level, she said.

Hanh noted that many activities have been carried out effectively, including the building of learning encouragement clubs in residential areas and "learning encouragement corner” at residential quarters, and the organisation of concentrated courses in residential clusters, thus promoting the self-study spirit in families and clans. As a result, the learning community in the locality has seen remarkable progress. Meanwhile, all residential areas have no children who are illiterate or drop out of school.

Ha Thi Loan, President of the Luong Son district’s Learning Encouragement Association said that the district has made various achievements in implementing the campaign of lifelong learning among families, clans and communities in line with the movement of "Entire people foster solidarity in building cultured lifestyle and new-style rural areas".

As part of the common efforts, sub-associations in residential areas as well as learning encouragement committees in agencies, units, enterprises and clans have promoted their central role in mobilising the engagement of the whole political system, local officials and residents as well as the whole community in the work, she said. Ha noted that so far, the organisation of all-level learning encouragement associations across the district has been completed to become stronger.

Notably, many individuals, collectives, clans and community with outstanding achievements in learning encouragement have appeared. This is a source of strength for the district to continue to expand the life-long learning movement among families, clans and communities in the time to come. The district will continue to launch new emulation movements to encourage learning activities and talents as well as the development of learning society in line with the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress as well as the Resolution of the Party Congress at all levels of the province in the 2020-2025 tenure, thus completing more targets in its path to implement the project to build a learning society in the 2021-2030 period./.
