In 2003, teacher Do Dinh Kien (currently the Principal of Luong Son district Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities) and teacher Vu Tran Hung (teacher of Luong Son High School) laid the foundation for the establishment of the Luong Son High School Youth Union’s Karate Club. At that time, the club operated with 30 participants. It then changed its name to the Luong Son Karate Club, which currently has over 400 members of all ages, and 11 training venues. Although there are still many difficulties, the club has always paid attention to, and invested in purchasing equipment and tools, gradually meeting the needs of practice, exchange and competition.

Coach Vu Tran Hung, head of the Luong Son Karate Club, shared that the numbers of martial artists and training venues are quite large, but the club always focuses on the quality of teaching, training and martial arts spirit. Each training session lasts 90 minutes, martial artists not only learn basic to advanced techniques and tactics, but also have training in ethics, discipline, solidarity, and the will to overcome difficulties so that they can improve themselves physically, mentally, and morally. Every quarter, the club organises rank upgrade exams for martial artists according to regulations.

Under the guidance of coach Vu Tran Hung and the efforts of each martial artist, the Luong Son Karate Club has participated in many tournaments inside and outside the province, winning a lot of impressive achievements. Most recently, at the 5th Open Karate Club Championship of Hoa Binh province in 2024, which attracted the participation of nearly 520 athletes from 31 clubs inside and outside the province, the Luong Son Karate Club won two first-place trophies for the age groups of 15-17 and over 18 years old. In July, the club also won the overall first place at the 10th Open Karate Club Championship of Bac Giang province in 2024.
