At the 2024 National Terrain Cycling Championship held in early October in Hoa Binh City, Hoa Binh athletes continued to demonstrate their talent and consistent performance. The proof is that on the first day of the competition, Hoa Binh men's team had a resounding victory when they won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal. In particular, the athlete Bui Van Nhat contributed 2 gold medals (1 individual and 1 team), the athlete Dinh Van Linh contributed 1 silver medal. Notably, with the acceleration up the pass, sprinting to the finish line on the final day of the competition (October 12), the athlete Bui Van Nhat won 1 convincing and worthy gold medal. That precious medal means that the Hoa Binh team rose from second place to first place in the medal rankings at the 38th National Terrain Cycling Championship in 2024. At the end of the tournament, Hoa Binh team with 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals, ranked above the Army team with 5 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals.
Talking about the achievements of the province's terrain cycling in recent years, we cannot fail to mention the name Tran Dai Nghia, a second-class international cycling coach. He is also the first national team coach of the province and he is also the first person from Hoa Binh to participate in the SEA Games as a coach. Under the "cool” and experienced training of the Coach Tran Dai Nghia, many of his students have won gold and silver medals at the SEA Games and regional competitions.
Right after the 2024 National Terrain Cycling Championship, Hoa Binh province is the first locality to host and successfully organize the 2024 National Amateur Terrain Cycling Championship - IRCtire Cup. The tournament is organized by the Vietnam Cycling - Motor Sports Federation, attracting hundreds of athletes from the provinces and the cities across the country.
The IRCtire Cup race is divided into 2 distances for 5 groups of athletes, taking place on the terrain cycling racing track that was used for the 31st SEA Games, which is quite elaborately designed and has a variety of terrains such as flat terrain, rough uphill or narrow rocky roads, bringing a dramatic and challenging competition experience.
In the province, the movement of terrain cycling training is widely participated by the people. A familiar face of this sport, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Loc, born in 1970 (Hoa Binh City) says: "I have participated in terrain and road cycling for 10 years from the accidental introduction of a friend. This sport helps me satisfy my passion for adventure, see the natural scenery and travel to many places in the country”. It is known that in Hoa Binh City alone, Hoa Binh Sports Cycling Club has dozens of participants; in the whole province, there are dozens of clubs or small groups with thousands of participants.
At the 2024 National Terrain Cycling Championship, Hoa Binh had many athletes participating in the competition, many of whom achieved high results such as third prize in the middle-aged male age group and 2 consolation prizes.
