Asking the people in Ban Roi hamlet, Nhan My commune, no one is unfamiliar with Mr. Bui Van Din, the athlete who has stepped up to the podium many times to receive a precious gold medal at the various regional and national competitions. He has also made a great contribution to the development of the local crossbow shooting. Visiting his family, he excitedly introduced a collection of precious medals are the achievements of the whole family during many years of participating in the competitions: "The medals are always hung in the most solemn position in the living room. It's both the tradition and the pride for me and it is the passion and the effort of my family members”, said Mr. Din. He started competing in 2004, and he has actively participated in many sports tournaments of the district and the province and he has won the outstanding achievements over the past years. Additionally, he has spread the love for crossbow shooting to his wife, Ms. Bui Thi Xay, and she officially started competing in 2007.
In their spare time, they often practice together. Thereby, the love for this sport has blossomed with his children. The bamboo is getting old, the bamboo shoots is growing, and after being taught by their parents, all of his children can play very well and they have been competing in many sports tournaments at all levels. In the National Crossbow Shooting Championship held in Dien Bien Province in 2009, Mr. Bui Van Din won the gold medal in the individual men's shooting event with 95/100 points. His daughter, Ms. Bui Thi Thuy, who was 18 years old then, won the silver medal in the individual women's shooting event. To serve the process of training as well as the competition, Mr. Din personally made the crossbows, which are suitable for each member of the family. Now he has been a a good athelte in crossbow shooting, he not only regularly participates in the tournaments, however, every time he practices, he enthusiastically guides and shares experiences for the younger generation who has the desire to affirm the strength of the sports of the ethnic people in the district.
It seems that the limited time, the busy work and the worries of life make practice and competition activities interrupted, however, the fire of passion for crossbow shooting is still smoldering in the heart of Mrs. Bui Thi Mui from Muong Kem hamlet, Phong Phu commune. She is not only the excellent athlete with a track record that makes many people admire, Ms. Mui is also very multi-talented, she is able to master all 3 sports and she can also swim, however, crossbow shooting is her favorite sports. She recalls: "That year, the commune participated in the district's sports competition. The male athletes competing in crossbow shooting were very large, while the women were very small. I took part in the competition after only 2 weeks with the wholehearted guide and instruction of my brother and the people in the village wholeheartedly.” Coming to crossbow shooting by accident, she has never been absent from any local sports competition since then. Ms. Bui Thi Mui has been the pride of the sporrts for the ethnic peopel in Hoa Binh when she won a gold medal at the National Sports Competition for the Ethnic Minority held in Hoa Binh in 1996.
The image of a woman attached to a crossbow has become familiar in everyday life, and her husband and all of the three children do not know when they have been passionate about shooting crossbows. Luckily born in a family with a tradition of sports, Mr. Bui Van Chi has inherited the experience, the techniques and the passion from his mother, Mrs. Bui Thi Mui, and he has become a talented and typical crossbowman of the district. "For me, the most precious and cherished thing is that the passion for the sports of the ethnic people, which has contributed to connecting the family members, practicing the positive living habits, contributing to conserving and preserving the cultural beauties andtraditions of the nation”, said Ms. Bui Thi Mui.
Owning a force of the excellent athletes of the sports of the ethnic people with the experienced cores such as Bui Thi Theu, Bui Thi Huong Giang, Bui Thi Thuy in crossbow shooting, Bui Van Huynh, Bui Van Tinh, Dinh Van Bay in stick pushing, etc., along with families who are rich in sports of the ethnic people such as Mr. Bui Van Din & Ms. Bui Thi Mui’s family... Hopefully, Tan Lac district will promote the best local strengths, contributing to making the position of Hoa Binh sport increasingly firmly in the field of sports in Vietnam in the future.
