Implementing the campaign "All people take exercises following the example of great Uncle Ho”, Du Sang commune of Kim Boi district has gradually developed the sports movement widely, attracting a large number of local people, contributing to improving the health and spiritual life, and promoting solidarity in the community.

People in Du Sang commune of Kim Boi district join in a volleyball competition.

As many as 691 out of 1,434 households in Du Sang commune have joined the sports movement in the locality. Local people proactively choose sports that are suitable for their health, ages, and job characteristics to practice every day.

Currently, all 11 hamlets in the commune have volleyball teams. In addition, local people also choose to practice other sports such as crossbow shooting, and sport dancing, among others.

The sport movement in the commune takes place energetically and enthusiastically every morning or late afternoon. Sports have gradually become a healthy habit and an indispensable "spiritual food" in the daily lives of local people.

In major holidays of the country such as the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival, the International Women's Day (March 8), and the National Reunification Day (April 30), the local Party committees and authorities direct sectors and organisations to proactively develop plans for organising sport competitions, including archery, tug-of-war, and men's and women's volleyball.

The communal People's Committee developed a plan and successfully organised the Olympic Run Day for Public Health in 2024, attracting more than 300 runners, including officials, civil servants, teachers, students, and local residents.

Sport events not only create a healthy playground for local residents to compete in the spirit of solidarity and exchange, but also aim to select talented and promising players for the commune’s sports teams to compete in the district and provincial sport competitions.

Bach Cong Chuong, who is in charge of cultural and social affairs of Du Sang commune, said that in recent years, the commune's sport and physical training movement has been taking place vigorously in all hamlets.

Sang Moi, Sang Trong, Go Thau, and Bai Tam are typical hamlets in the locality’s sport movement. Sport competitions are regularly held to create a healthy playground for local people, increasing solidarity among them. The strongest sport of the commune is crossbow shooting. Local residents also play other sports such as volleyball, stick pushing, and seven-a-side football.

Through practice gatherings, and competitions between hamlets, communes, and regional tournaments, people gradually change their awareness of doing exercise and playing sports, contributing to preventing and pushing back social evils.
