With effective business operations, significant increases in the number of visitors at weekends and on public holidays, and being listed among the 71 most beautiful places to visit worldwide by the prestigious US travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller, Hoa Binh’s tourism is "spreading its wings" on its journey towards the targets of welcoming 4.9 million visitors, including 1 million foreigners, and achieving total tourism revenue of 5.4 trillion VND (211.89 million USD) in 2025.

The first months of the year are also the peak of the tourism season, with the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays, and spring festivals taking place across the province. During the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, Hoa Binh became one of the top destinations, attracting visitors thanks to its diverse experiences and new products. As a result, its tourism sites welcomed a total of 250,000 visitors, a 25% increase compared to the same period last year, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching 132 billion VND, up 11.8% year-on-year.
In recent days, dozens of large-scale traditional festivals at the provincial, district, and commune levels have been organised. Notable events include the Muong ethnic group's Khai Ha (Going down to the field) Festival in Phong Phu commune, Tan Lac district, with 95,000 participants, including 85,000 tourists; and the Tien Pagoda Festival in Lac Thuy, which attracted around 30,000 locals and visitors.
Bui Xuan Truong, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated that to achieve the tourism development goals and plans for 2025 and the following years, the province will prioritise investing in technical infrastructure and improving the quality of tourism services. Special attention will be given to developing cultural tourism, preserving and promoting local heritage values, and focusing on high-quality resort and sports tourism products.
Currently, Hoa Binh continues to develop an integrated product system, such as eco-tourism and resort tourism; community-based tourism, rural tourism associated with OCOP (one commune one product) products combined with craft village experiences; cultural and historical tourism combined with festivals; culinary tourism linked with cultural and sports events; digital tourism; and resort tourism combined with health care. In addition, the province is effectively implementing Project 6 on preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, in line with tourism development under the National Target Programme for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
A great number of visitors have flocked to tourist attractions in Hoa Binh province in the first lunar month every year to admire the beautiful scenery, fully enjoy the spring atmosphere, and immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere in many localities.
In recent times, Cao Phong District, Hoa Binh Province has focused on promoting tourism development, attracting visitors, and contributing to socio-economic growth.
In the early days of the Year of the Snake, visitors flocked to Yen Phu commune of Hoa Binh’s Lac Son district to experience the "Xuong Dong" (going to the field) festival, the largest celebration in the Muong Vang region, which is closely linked with the Mai Da Lang Vanh (the stone roof of Vanh village) archaeological site, which has been recognised as a special national relic site.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, visitors from near and far are eager to come to the mountainous district of Da Bac to have unique cultural experiences such as learning to wrap traditional cakes of ethnic minorities, practicing writing ancient Tay characters or immersing themselves in the Tay melodies.
Tan Lac has great potential for tourism development. In addition, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU, dated October 17, 2022, on building the highland communes in Tan Lac district into provincial-level tourism areas by 2030, with a vision to 2050. However, according to the assessment, implementing the goals in the spirit of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU has had limited results.
Recognising that tourism and agriculture are local strengths, Mai Chau district is committed to building a green economy through an action program with specific pathways, achieving notable results in line with the resolution of the 26th Party Congress of the district.
