Lac Thuy district has actively transferred and applied scientific and technological advances into production, as well as promoted innovation to serve industrialisation and modernisation, towards boosting hi-tech and sustainable agriculture production.

The greenhouse melon cultivation model of the Truong Thinh Hi-Tech Agriculture Investment JSC in Thong Nhat commune is one of the agricultural models that effectively use scientific and technological advances in a closed production system, which results in higher economic efficiency and quality compared to traditional farming methods.

Before harvest, technical staff check the quality and sweetness of each melon, then attach a traceability label with a QR code. Currently, the company’s melons are primarily sold in Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Thai Binh markets.

In recent years, the People's Committee of Lac Thuy district has directed local agencies, businesses, and cooperatives to research and apply technological solutions and innovative ideas in production and business to improve the quality and productivity of products and goods.

In the 2021 - 2024 period, the district supported 13 products to participate in the provincial The One Community One Product (OCOP) programme. It also coordinated with the provincial Department of Science and Technology to organise a training course on applying the provincial traceability system for 50 local production and business households.

Since 2021, the district People's Committee has assisted the implementation of scientific and technological models in the locality.

In addition, every year, the district Agricultural Service Centre conducts experimental cultivation models for new rice and corn varieties with a budget of about 200 million VND.

The models prove that the application of science and technology in agricultural production is a decisive factor in improving crop yields, livestock productivity, and the value of products, thus bringing higher economic benefits to local farmers, and reduce environmental pollution.

The science and technology transfer models being implemented and expanded are also contributing to a 15-20% increase in economic efficiency compared to traditional agricultural production methods.

Vice Chairman of the district People's Committee said that to further scale up production models applied scientific and technological advancements, the local authority has directed localities to continue promoting awareness among the people to change farming practices and introduce high-yield and high-quality crops into production.

Attention will be paid to developing high-tech agriculture, investing in technological innovation, and promoting value chain-oriented production forms in the direction of linking organisations and farmers to improve production efficiency, productivity, quality of crops and livestock, and ensure food safety and hygiene, Van said.
