The green pumpkin planting model brought high economic efficiency for the Youth member Bui Van Chi's family (on the right), Bay Chao village, Dich Giao commune (Tan Lac).

We visited the green pumpkin growing model of Bui Van Chi, in Bay Chao village. This is one of the new models to bring quite better economic efficiency. Chi is 25 years old, among a few young people choosing to stay and do a business at his homeland. Chi said that: in the past, his family cultivated sugarcane and maize in this field but the economic effect was not high. Recognizing that the model of planting green pumpkins in the neighboring communes brought about good economic results, he was bravely transformed. However, even in the first crop, the price of green pumpkins went down (2,000 - 5,000 VND / kg), therefore, it was not profitable, only enough for investing in nets and fertilizer. Failure does not dampen him; he expanded the area to more than 2,000 m2 in the second season. Thanks to his diligence and hard work, Mr. Chi achieved with over 5 tons of green pumpkins sold to the market, the average selling price was 10,000 VND / kg. In this season (third crop), Chi bravely leased more land, expanding the planted area to more than 3,000 m2.

Besides the model of planting green pumpkins, Mr. Chi also grows citrus trees, this fruit orchard is now growing well.

Bordered with Bay Chao Village, Kha Lac village also has a prominent economic model by a youth member. That is the planting Thai jackfruit model of the family of Nguyen Van Tien. More than 3 years ago, Tien took Thai jackfruit seedling to plant in his family’s garden. Thanks to the diligent care and learning techniques, up to now, the model has initially brought his family Tien worthy achievements.

Apart from Tien, Chi, in Dich Giao commune, many Youth Union Members have been trying to build economic models suitable with the potential, strengths of the local as well as market demands. There may be some typical models such as raising chickens in the garden of Bui Van Dong, Bay Chao village; planting Acacia and crossbred neem of Bui Van Tuan, Kem village; Growing mushrooms of Bui Van Nghiep, Mun village or model of organic vegetables of some Youth Union Members in Sung 2 village.

"Every year, the majority of Youth Union Members in the commune participate in training sessions of science and technology transfer organized by different levels of sectors, industries and non-governmental organizations. The content of the training sessions are suitable for the Youth Union Members’ demands, such as organic composting technique, pig raising by organic methods, techniques of growing red grapefruit and organic grapefruit by organic methods, Therefore, the Youth Union Members gradually mastered the technique to develop the economic models and bring the real effect.
