The Government leader applauded the solidarity and determination of the provincial Party committee, authorities and people in achieving their level of sustainable development, maintaining security and order, and ensuring social safety.

Accordingly, Lang Son has achieved an annual economic growth rate of 8% and its GDRP per capita in 2017 reached VND35.6 million.

He stressed the important position of the province regarding the political, economic, defence and security spheres in the country’s northeast region, as the locality shares around 230 kilometres of border with China and serves as a major gateway to China and ASEAN.

Therefore, Lang Son province should set its vision on boosting trade, tourism, agriculture and forestry while pushing border economic development and fostering neighbourly relationship with China.

He also mapped out other major tasks for the province, including preserving local cultural identity, maintaining security and defence, developing high-tech agriculture and rural areas, reducing poverty, and improving healthcare and education in remote areas.
