(HBO) – The complicated development of COVID-19 epidemic since early this year has seriously affected the agriculture sector. Meanwhile, African swine fever still occurs in some communes. Localized thunderstorms and heavy rain caused damage in Mai Chau, Tan Lac and Kim Boi districts. Faced with both natural disasters and epidemics, the agricultural sector has managed to find ways to adapt and promote production to ensure food security.

People in Nam Thuong commune (Kim Boi) convert the inefficient rice cultivation area to other crops with higher economic value.

Nguyen Huy Nhuan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that Covid-19 epidemic has unprecedentedly affected all fields. Therefore, right from the beginning of 2021, the agricultural sector has actively coordinated with departments, branches and localities to focus on preparing seeds, materials and production conditions; proactively prevent and control diseases on plants and animals. The province also switches to other high economic value crops. Local authorities provide solutions for the consumption of agricultural products in the spring crop and implement the production of the summer-summer crop in the coming time.

The province’s agricultural production has some highlights as it has surpassed some of the targets in the first 6 months of the year compared to the same period last year. Many cooperatives, agricultural cooperative groups have adjusted their production plans to apply digital technology to help consume agricultural products, promote sufficient food supply for the people. Most of the province's key products and OCOP products have been offered for sale on a number of websites and e-commerce platforms./.
