(HBO) – In August, the Hoa Binh provincial Cooperative Alliance coordinated with Viettel Post Hoa Binh and the VNPost branch in the province to help nine cooperatives introduce agricultural products on two e-commerce platforms, VoSo.vn and Postmart. The move has helped local farmers boost the sale of farm produce amid the complex COVID-19 situation while creating momentum for cooperatives to conduct digital transformation.

Nguyen Thi Tan, head of the commerce division at Viettel Post Hoa Binh, said Viettel Post Hoa Binh has coordinated with the provincial Cooperative Alliance to carry out a programme promoting the sale of co-operatives’ products. The firm has organised training, helped co-operatives create stores on the VoSo.vn platform, and equipped them with customer service skills.
Within one month, some local agricultural products have been put on VoSo.vn such as longan, eggs, chicken, asparagus, pumpkin, and chilli, thereby helping co-operatives boost sale amid difficulties caused by the pandemic.
Apart from selling products on e-commerce platforms, co-operatives and co-operative groups in Hoa Binh have also been working hard to apply technology to production and selling activities. Some have used automatic watering systems, net houses, and origin traceability labels. The scientific and technological application has helped raise product value and secure sustainable sale despite impacts of natural disasters or disease outbreaks.
Tran An Dinh, Chairman of the provincial Cooperative Alliance said amid the trend of international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, cooperatives cannot stay uninvolved in digital transformation.
To successfully conduct digital transformation, it is firstly necessary to change all cooperative members’ awareness; build a big data system about land, crops, and livestock; ensure information transparency; and standardise products to prepare for digitalisation.
He added that in the time ahead, the provincial Co-operative Alliance will work with all-level authorities and sectors to boost communications among State agencies’ cadres in charge of collective economy, as well as cooperative members, so as to raise their awareness of the importance of digital transformation to the development of collective economy and cooperatives. Surveys of cooperatives will be carried out to select effective ones and capable cadres for creating role models in digital transformation. Resources will also be mobilised to assist cooperatives to implement digital transformation./.
