(HBO) – To effectively and concertedly carry out the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) programme, Tan Lac district has actively instructed and assisted with the implementation different aspects in this programme, especially the optimisation of its advantages to develop local key farm produce into OCOP products.
The entire mooli area of the Quyet Chien safe vegetable production cooperative in Tan Lac district has been granted the VietGAP certificate.
Considering the OCOP programme a chance to popularise and improve the value of local farm produce, the People’s Committee of Tan Lac district issued a plan and ordered relevant units to step up communications, guidance issuance, and assistance for participants. Accordingly, the local division for agriculture and rural development has coordinated with the farmers’ union and the women’s union of Tan Lac to hold training and communication sessions to provide information on the OCOP programme for hundreds of members and farming households. As a result, local people’s awareness of the programme has been improved.
The district’s administration has also worked with specialised agencies and sectors to help farmers grasp technical standards for production and processing; cooperated with the Hoa Binh provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to open training courses on building farming models in line with VietGAP standards; and assisted farmers to take part in trade promotion events, exhibitions, and fairs to boost sales.
Besides, authorities have also paid attention to developing products under value chains by connecting farmers with cooperative groups, cooperatives, and businesses, thereby helping with economic restructuring, income improvement for local residents, and the implementation of the new-style rural area building programme.
Bui Duc Hien, head of the Tan Lac division for agriculture and rural development, described the OCOP programme as a "passport” helping local products extend their reach to bigger markets, adding that it also helps improve the value of farm produce and advertise and promote local specialties.
It is also a stepping stone for forming concentrated farming zones and strengthening production connectivity, which in turn will also contribute to the building of new-style rural areas, he noted.
Given the values generated by OCOP products, since the start of 2022, the district has taken the initiative in selecting and assisting producers to complete dossiers and standardise three products – the Quyet Chien mooli, the wild honey of Cu hamlet in Tu Ne commune, and the community-based tourism in Chien hamlet of Van Son commune, thus helping raise locals' income and expand the presence of Tan Lac’s typical agricultural specialties to more markets, according to the official./.
Maximizing local potential and advantages, Yen Tri commune in Yen Thuy district is actively promoting the cultivation of medicinal herbs and turning medicinal herbs into One Commune - One Product (OCOP) products.
