(HBO) – Mai Chau district has worked hard to mobilise resources for the development of Mai Chau township with an aim to turn the locality into a four-tier urban area.

After being expanded, Mai Chau township has a population of 18,665. The locality has seen great progress in all fields, including economic structure and infrastructure. However, the locality still faces a number of shortcomings in its efforts to complete criteria of a four-tier urban area in the 2021-2025 period, especially in population and technical infrastructure.

In order to help the township become a four-tier urban area, Mai Chau district is focusing on expanding its population scale and density, and developing its urban infrastructure system and urban landscape.

The district authority will mobilise all resources to improve the town's technical and social infrastructure system and housing reserve, attract more residents and investors, and transform its economic structure towards larger proportion of industry, trade and services.

DinhDuc Lan, Secretary of the district Party Committee said that on November 2, the committee issued a project to mobilise resources for the development of Mai Chau township into a four-tier urban area at a total cost of 836.5 billion VND (35.47 million USD).

Under the project, the technical infrastructure of Mai Chau urban area is expected to complete in 2025, enabling it to become a four-tier urban area run by the province. In the 2026-2030 period, the township will continue to maintain the achieved criteria, while working on meeting the remaining criteria.

In 2025, the area’s social infrastructure system is hoped to be finished. The population scale of the locality is expected to reach at least 25,000 people in 2025, with a density of 1,200 people per sq.km. The ratio of non-agricultural labourers is expected to reach at least 55% of the local workforce.

Alongside, the district will also support investors to implement their projects in the township, including the Mai Chau Resort, Mai Chau resort-culture area, Avana Mai Chau Resort, and Thanh Son high-tech agriculture-tourism area, said Lan.

He said that the district will also roll out measures to receive more capital from the State budget and the district budget sourced from land use levy, while improving its capacity in urban planning and management./.
