Following the Resolution No. 10-NQ/TU issued by the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board on December 31, 2021 on mobilising resources to turn Luong Son district into a tier-4 urban area and a town-level administrative unit by 2025, the whole political system of Luong Son has worked hard to turn the locality into an economic "locomotive" of the province.

Over the past more than 10 years, Nguyen Van Hoai, a resident in Lam Son commune has worked at the Luong Son industrial park. The combined income of Hoai and his wife is nearly 20 million VND (810 USD) per month. Hoai said that before the industrial park was built, local residents mostly lived on agriculture or worked in other localities such as Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Hai Phong and Hanoi. Since the industrial park became operational, many people in the district have found jobs near their home.

Luong Son industrial park covers 80 hectares, hosting 39 projects, including 17 foreign-invested projects with a total investment of more than 230 million USD, and 22 domestically-invested projects worth 2.69 trillion VND.

Nguyen Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Luong Son said that in order to turn Luong Son into a town and the key economic hub of the province, the district has focused resources on promoting industry, handicraft, service, trade and urban development.

The district has proposed the province continue making planning for the development of four industrial parks and 11 industrial clusters, he said, adding that currently, the district is clearing the site for Nhuan Trach industrial park and Rut industrial cluster in Tan Vinh commune to attract more investment and create more jobs for local labourers.

Investment projects in strong industries such as construction materials production, agricultural and forestry processing, footwear, electronics, and textiles are increasing in number, contributing to creating many jobs, he noted.

Besides, the district is implementing many projects to upgrade its infrastructure system, especially in transport, including the Hoa Binh-Hanoi road, Son La Expressway connecting Hoa Binh and Moc Chau (Son La), Xuan Mai-Luong Son road, and the road from National Highway 6 to Nhuan Trach industrial park.

The locality owns many tourist attractions operating in a resort model, attracting many tourists such as Dong Goi Manor in Hoa Son commune, Sunset Resort in Tan Vinh commune, Ecolodge Spa, Beverly Hills in Cu Yen commune, Ivory Villa & Resort, Phuong Hoang Phoenix Golf Resort in Lam Son commune.

In the coming time, Luong Son will continue to draw strategic investors with strong economic potential, high technologies and small impacts on the environment and using a large number of labourers.

At the same time, it will review and propose adjustments and supplements to plans for industry and handicraft development in the locality to align with the district’s socio-economic development planning until 2025 with a vision to 2030, while removing difficulties facing major projects, speeding up administrative reform and improving the local business and investment environment.

Alongside, the district Party Committee and People’s Committee will shorten the time for administrative procedures for investors, while mobilising resources for speeding up major urban transport projects, and improve locals’ living conditions.
