(HBO) – The Tien Phong Plastic joint Stock Company on March 15 started construction on the Dong-Cai bridge in Chi Thien commune of Lac Son district.
This is the fourth bridge built following the "Bridges of Love”
programme funded by the company since October 2017.
The suspension bridge is designed to have a total length of 58 metres,
with an estimated investment of 2.5 billion VND (109,500 USD) to replace the
old and downgraded one.
The old Dong-Cai bridge is a suspension bridge running across a
section of Buoi river and linking Dong and Cai villages of Chi Thien commune.
The bridge was built in 1997 with a rudimentary structure, and is currently
downgraded. Every year, local authorities and locals donate bamboo and wood to
repair it, but it is not safe enough, causing a lot of heart-breaking drowning
cases. Notably, this is the only way for students in Dong village and Chi Dao
commune’s Be Ngoai village to go to school. They often have to be off school, if
the bridge is broken or in rainy seasons. At that time, the travel of locals
and goods transportation are also hampered.
Understanding these difficulties, the Tien Phong Plastic joint
Stock Company coordinated with local authorities to study and invest in
building a new bridge.

The project is expected to complete before the rainy season 2018
to ensure safety for the travel of locals in Chi Thien and Chi Dao communes.
The bridge is part of the "Bridges of Love” programme funded by
the Tien Phong Plastic joint Stock Company. The company set a target of
building 60 bridges to ensure travel safety for students and bring economic
interests for residents in extremely disadvantaged areas across the nation.
On this occasion, the Tien Phong Plastic joint Stock Company also
granted 20 scholarships worth 500,000 VND each to poor students with good
learning performances in Chi Dao and Chi Thien communes./.
