(HBĐT) - Returning to Thanh Hoi commune, Tan Lac district in mid-August, we saw great changes in the appearance of the local rural areas and the living standards of local residents. Tan Huong hamlet, adjacent to National Highway 12B, has become a model residential area. Local cooperatives have exported pomelos to the European market.

Duong Tat Tinh, an experienced pomelo farmer,
said the residents of Tan Huong hamlet have gained a good level of expertise in
cultivating pomelo. Currently, many households have significant changed their
mindset and continued renovating pomelo cultivation methods, aiming for exports
and meeting the increasingly high market demand. This year, Tinh's pomelo orchard
continues to yield quality fruits that meet safe production standards. Local
households also engage in animal raising, trading and services, leading to an
overall improvement in their living conditions.
Thanh Hoi has a large acreage and a big
population. The commune used to perform well in rural transport development and
restructuring of crops and animals, particularly focusing on raising cattle and
developing red-fleshed and green-skinned pomelos. In recent years, the communal
Party organisation has effectively built the Party and political system, upheld
the role of officials and Party members in leading, directing, and engaging
locals in rural development.
After three years of implementing the Resolution
adopted by the 27th Party Congress of the commune, 9 out of 18 targets have
been achieved and exceeded while 9 out of 18 targets met schedule. The local
leaders oversaw the conversion of crops on 22 ha of land. The commune now has
310ha of citrus growing area. The commune continues to develop models of
commercial cattle farming and step up forest-based economic growth.
The communal Party organisation has directed and
effectively pooled resources to develop infrastructure, build new-style rural
areas, maintain two model residential areas, and six model gardens in Tan Huong
and Nen 2 hamlets. It also continues with the construction of another model
residential area in Tan Tien hamlet. Alongside these efforts, the commune is
focusing on cultural and social affairs, maintaining national standard level 1 for
the local kindergarten. The Thanh Hoi primary and secondary school has been
recognised as meeting national standard level 1. At present, the average annual
per capita income of the commune is 58 million VND (2,400 USD), and the rate of
poor households is around 6.2%.
The Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province held a conference on March 18 to review the performance of the "Safe and Happy School" Project and set out tasks for 2025. The project, funded by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students.
