The Hoa Binh Department of Education and Training on August 20 held a ceremony to present the title of Excellent Teacher to outstanding teachers, review the 2023-2024 academic year, and launch tasks for the new year. The event drew Bui Duc Hinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoa Binh and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Van Chuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and leaders of a number of local departments and sectors.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, with joint efforts of education management officials, teachers and students, the education-training sector of Hoa Binh recorded many outstanding achievements.

Forty-two local students won prizes at the national contest for outstanding high-school students, and many brought home prizes from other national contests. Hoa Binh held the 2024 high school graduation exam in a safe and serious manner, with 99.5% passing the exam.

The improvement of education-training infrastructure and facilities has received great attention, along with the implementation of support policies for poor students, students with disabilities and students from ethnic minority groups, mountainous areas and poor areas.

At the event, the provincial Department of Education and Training honoured three local teachers with the title of Excellent Teacher. They are Nguyen Thi Thuc, Principal of Son Ca pre-school in Hoa Binh city; Khuong Thi Thanh Nguyet, Principal of Sao Sang pre-school in Cao Phong district; and Pham Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of Van Nghia primary and secondary school in Lac Son district.

The provincial People’s Committee also presented an emulation flag to Tan Lac high school for leading in the emulation movement in the 2023-2024 academic year, and certificates of merit to 13 collectives with outstanding achievements in the year.

Addressing the event, Bui Van Hinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoa Binh, recognised and lauded the achievements and contributions by local teachers and education officials in the year. Regarding the orientations and tasks for the 2024-2025 academic year, he asked the education-training sector to continue to creatively and effectively implement resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels, especially Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW issued on August 12, 2024 by the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialisation and modernisation in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration; and Resolution No. 19-NQ/TU, dated June 29, 2023, of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board on strengthening resources for education and training development, meeting the requirements of innovation in Hoa Binh province in the 2023-2030 period.

Meanwhile, the sector should efficiently implement breakthrough and spearhead measures to improve education quality in line with the 2018 general education programme, while caring for the material and spiritual life of teachers, especially in remote and poor areas, and making more investment in education-training infrastructure, he said.

The provincial leader also stressed the need to strengthen the application of information technology and digital transformation in education sector, along with the closer coordination among schools, parents and the entire society for the cause of education-training development.
